Burr…cold, arctic and ice!
Invitations
- Penguin Invitations – These are very easy using construction paper. See photo:

- Here is a cute little saying you can use…
Who’s celebrating their birthday in the cold?
Come to __________’s house if you are bold.
For a party full of penguins of all shapes and sizes.
Brave the cold for some cake, fun and prizes!
Decorations
- Cover your furniture with white sheets to make it look like you are in the Arctic
- Hang paper snowflakes around your house using fishing line
- Put blue light bulbs in all the lamps
- Scatter packaging peanuts around like snow
- Get mini penguins from the craft store and freeze them in ice cubes for drinks.
Favors
- You can find tons of penguin items in your local dollar store. They have cups, plates, piñata’s, and much more. Personalize these items. Get penguin cups and plates and put each child’s name on them with puffy paint. This way they have their own party plate and cup and can re-use them and help keep this planet green.
Games
- Pass the penguin – You local dollar store should have some stuffed animal penguins, if not try a toy store. Have the kids sit in a circle and play some music. The kids take a turn passing the stuffed penguin around the circle until the music stops. When the music stops, the person holding the penguin is out. Keep this going until there is one kid left and they get the penguin as a prize!
- Pin the nose on the penguin – Use poster board to create the outline of a penguin (you can use the one in the photo for an example.) Grab orange construction paper and cut out some noses. Put either double sided tape or scotch tape in a bubble on the back of the noses. Have the kids close their eyes (or blindfold them) and see who can put the nose closest to the “real nose!”

- Pick out the penguin – fill a bowl with ice cubes and small plastic penguins (you can buy at your local dollar store), have the kids blindfolded retrieve the penguins. 1st person to do so, wins!
Crafts/ Activities
- Penguin Puppets – you can make puppets out of lunch bags. Just cut the body, head and feet out of construction paper prior to the party and have the children assemble them with some glue and markers. They can put on a puppet show for the parent when they pick them up from the party.
- Penguin Masks – use a paper plate and attach a Popsicle stick to the backside. Cut eyes and a mouth out and have the kids use markers and their own creativity to create their own mask!
- Movie Time – rent “Happy Feet” or “March of the Penguins”
