Make FUN out of life
Princess Party
You don’t want to miss this royal event…

Invitations
  • Use lots of glitter or insert confetti into the pre-bought invitations.
  • To make your own, cut out your child’s name from construction paper. Use that at the front and glue a rectangular backing on to write all your event information on. Make sure it fits into a regular envelope, so you don’t have to spend the $ on big envelopes or extra postage!!!

Decorations
  • Use lots of twinkle lights, glitter, and tulle   – found at party stores or dollar stores! It is messy, but that is why they created vacuum cleaners, right?
  • Roll out the “red carpet” for the guests. You can get a roll of red plastic table cloth at your local party store. Roll it out your front door, right up to the driveway. Your guests will arrive in style.
  • Decorate a specific chair for the birthday prince or princess to look like a throne. Use streamers, and toilet paper rolls rolled in tin foil for the back of the chair – or have each child decorate their own chair as a throne.
  • Play “royalty” music the whole party (you can find CD’s at music stores)
  • Princess party - serve tea and Petits fours (tiny sandwiches.) To make these sandwiches, create regular sandwiches on bread (turkey and cheese, ham, tuna, etc.) Cut the crust off and cut them in fours (make an X in your sandwich, so they are “triangle fours.) You can even make little petis fours cakes for dessert.
  • Princess party - bring someone in to put make-up and nail polish on all the girls. Or, save money and grab a sister, aunt or mom to help YOU put make up on all the girls! You can also turn this into a “spa party.” Grab bucket of warm water and give pedicures to the girls as well! You can also get some face cream and moisturizers and give facials!

Favors
  • For the Princess Party: You can give all the kids purses full of make-up, perfume, brushes, beauty products, etc
  •  For the Prince Party: You can give all the kids “bags” full of gold (chocolate coins,) candy filled cell phones and any thing else you can find at the candy store that speaks royalty!

Games
  •  Prince/Princess question gamehave the children answer questions about the birthday child.  When they are finished, have the birthday child answer the questions themselves. Whoever gets most right is the winner!
  • Crown toss – use their party favors (crowns) as a ring toss. Tape a paper towel roll to the floor and have the kids see who can toss the most rings on the paper towel holder.
  • Dress up relay – get a bunch of old dresses, skirts, vests, dress pants, dress up shoes, etc. Have the children split into teams and each person in the team gets a turn to dress in everything provided for them. Once they are dressed, they run to a specific line and undress – then the next person in their team goes. The first team to get all their teammates “dressed and undressed in price/princess” attire wins!
  •  Castle making –give everyone graham crackers, frosting and goodies. Each person can make their own castles!
 Crafts
  • Make your own crowns and wands – wands - get a bunch of sticks and cut out stars from cardboard. Attach them with glue and cover them with tin foil. You can attach some ribbon to make them fancier. Crowns – make a template from cardboard and have the kids trace it and cut it out. Have them cover with tin foil and decorate with glitter, beads, jewels (you can buy all these items at a local craft store!)
  • Silhouettes – this is a classic, but everyone loves these! Set up a lamp and take a piece of paper onto the wall. Have the children sit next to the paper (showing their profile.) Trace their profile on the paper. The child then can cut it out and glue it on a piece of black paper. These are great!
  •  Photo Frame - Take everyone’s picture as they arrive and print them out on your printer. Cut out frames from cardboard or heavy paper. Have the kids color and decorate the frames. When they finish, the can attach their photo in their frame.
  • Jewelry making (princess party) – grab all sorts of beads, fasteners and string from your local craft store have the children make their own jewelry. They can make bracelets, necklaces and crowns.
  •  Cape creating (prince party) – get a big piece of velvet from the craft store, cut out capes for all the “princes.” They can use jewels and puffy paint (found at your local craft store) to create their own “Royal capes.”
